The Wedding of Mr and Mrs Musso

Mr & Mrs Musso

1st June 2017

As I drove down the picturesque driveway and saw the magnificent country house emblazoned with ‘Ferrari’s’, I knew this place was going to be special. A tour of the inside and of the breath-taking gardens and I was convinced. All I had to do then was phone my fiancé, Salvatore, to let him know I had booked our wedding venue. I was that certain he would love it as much as I did.

The Ferrari family couldn’t have made things any easier for me and Salvatore during the whole run up to the wedding. There was a wide choice of menus and in helping us to choose, nothing was too much. Susan, the proprietor, customised dishes for us (to incorporate our Irish and Italian theme) and even created a bespoke Limoncello tiramisu which was the talk of the wedding.

In the months before the wedding, communication was always quick and easy and every worry or query I had was answered straight away.

As anyone planning a wedding knows, time certainly does pass quickly and before we knew it our special day had arrived. I just knew that everything would be perfect at the venue and I wasn’t wrong. When I arrived, Luisa was there to meet me, along with the registrar and any nerves I had quickly vanished. The staff even managed to book the weather for us and we couldn’t have asked for better. As I walked up the red carpet, and through the beautiful gardens, it was a sight to behold to see our families and friends gathered all around the Dove Cote.

We had just over 100 guests during the day, but the ceremony still managed to be intimate and romantic and just perfect! Walking back down the aisle, to ‘You Never Can Tell’ by Chuck Berry (and yes we did do the dance) created such an amazing atmosphere. There was plenty of laughter and confetti throwing. However, Salvatore’s family failed to mention to me that an Italian tradition is to throw raw rice at the bride; the photos showing my reaction are priceless and certainly a memory which will always stay with me.

We were then greeted by Luisa who had an ice-cold Peroni for Salvatore and a bespoke Limoncello prosecco for me. Bliss! The drinks were flowing and our guests all gathered around to congratulate us.

I had engaged the services of a magician, Josh Talmer, (aged 13) who amazed and entertained the guests. Mouth-watering canapes circulated which included mini fish and chips and arancinis. Delicious!

Our photographer, Geoff Ashworth, was fantastic and one of our favourite photos was taken from a great height to ensure he got a bird’s eye view of all the guests.

Before we knew it, it was time for our wedding meal and guests tucked into our favourite foods and favourite wines. Our custom-made starter of Irish white pudding, accompanied with Sicilian sausage, were well received! The steak and duck for main course were cooked to perfection and our guests struggled to decide which of the luscious desserts to choose from – my favourite was the Limoncello tiramisu made especially for us. The food and service were outstanding and everything ran like clockwork. The speeches then followed and the winning table of our Mr. and Mrs. Wedding quiz was announced and then it was back outside to enjoy even more of the glorious sunshine.

The evening guests then started to arrive and to my husband’s great surprise, the arrival of – Mr Andrew Brown – Elvis Impersonator. He arrived incognito and was about to set up inside for his set when I asked if he could perform outside on the terrace. Again, this was no problem for the staff at Ferrari’s. When he reappeared, in his Elvis regalia, Salvatore couldn’t believe it. Andrew, I mean Elvis, entertained the guests in the fading sunlight and had the terrace full with everyone jiving to all of The King’s classic hits. He then sang our favourite song ‘The Wonder of You’. What else could we possible have asked for? Our favourite song, sung by ‘Elvis’, in the beautiful grounds of Ferrari’s, as the sun was setting. Perfection!

However, the evening entertainment didn’t stop there! We then had the band, Hudson, set up inside and raring to go! The dance floor was packed all night as they played all of our favourite songs ranging from contemporary to music from the 70s and even some music for the Irish contingency.

The evening food followed the theme of the day, as it was first class! Guests tucked into hog roasts of pork, lamb and beef accompanied by salads, breads and pasta. Dancing then ensued into the early hours and fun was had by all.

The memories of our fabulous wedding day will stay with us forever and that is all down to the wonderful staff at Ferrari’s and the beautiful venue. We send our grateful thanks to the tireless efforts of Luisa.

In the days, weeks and months since the wedding, every one of our guests are still talking about how amazing it was! What more could we have asked for?
