Alison’s Bridal Alterations 🪡🧵👰🏼♀️
1. How far in advance do I need to book my alterations?
I usually recommend that you book your first fit appointment around 8-10 weeks before your wedding date, but book this far enough in advance to ensure you get the date in mind.
2. What if I want to come earlier?
I do offer earlier appointments for consultations, in which we would go through what work needs doing to your dress. This can help to put your mind at ease knowing that the alterations can be done and that you are happy with what is discussed before the first fitting.

3. What do I need to bring with me?
Your wedding shoes are a must as most dresses will need some alterations to the hem. Without your shoes it is impossible, the correct heel height is needed. Your underskirt (if you’re wearing one) also needs to be brought to each appointment. I can also offer underskirt hire if required.
4. How long will my appointment last?
All bridal appointments (consultations and first fittings) are 1 hour. Each subsequent appointment may be less than an hour depending on what is required. Bridesmaids/groomsmen/MOB etc appointments are usually around 30 minutes long.

5. How many fittings will I need?
The number of fittings will depend on the complexity of the dress, which can be discussed within consultations and first fittings. There are no extra charges if multiple fittings are needed.
6. What is the best way to get into the dress? Can you show me exactly how to do it on the day?
Yes, I can offer helpful hints, tips and advice on how to get into your dress. This can also be filmed to look back on if you need someone else’s help on your special day.

7. How much do alterations cost?
Unfortunately, I cannot provide an exact amount without physically seeing you and the dress, as all dresses and bodies are completely different and unique to you. A consultation offers you the opportunity to come and try your dress on and discuss in detail the options and choices available to you.
8. What is your payment structure?
There is a booking fee to secure your first fitting appointment, and I take a small deposit at the first fitting for the work to be started. Final payment is required on completion of your dress.

9. What happens if my weight changes before my final appointment?
After your first fitting you should always try to maintain your weight and shape. We understand that in some cases this doesn’t always happen and can allow for some fluctuations within reason, however, please bear in mind a further cost may be incurred if the dress has to be re-altered.
10. Can you steam my dress before collection?
Yes, I can steam your wedding dress, so it is ready for your perfect day for an additional cost.
