December 2017 started with you as boyfriend & girlfriend and January 2018 started with you as engaged to be married. I have put together my 5 helpful tips to give you a start on planning your your dream wedding……
Planning a wedding can seem like such a huge undertaking, there’s so much to think about and where do you start? Stop! take a deep breath, grab a coffee (or wine…)
Tip 1 – Planning
This is your day and all about what you both want. Sure mums, dads, sisters and friends will have ideas and there input can be valuable, but remember as long as you are happy, so will they be.
Tip 2 – Budget
This is the boring but necessary bit! Plan the wedding you want without going into the red.
Whats the most important thing to you? My advice, start with choosing two dates (this is important ) choose your church/registrar/venue, the two date factor helps in case a date is booked for one of these. Next, book your photographer (seriously, I’m not just saying this) so many couples have contacted me and I have been unable to shoot there wedding due to being booked. Your photographer should be one of your biggest expenses of the day in preserving your memories. The motto buy cheap, buy twice doesn’t even help here as you can’t reshoot your day.
Tip 3 – Vendors
Meet everyone! This is important, don’t just book your photographer or your hairdresser or your make up artist (you get my meaning! ) from social media or because your best friend had them. Recommendations are fantastic (and a huge compliment), but you need to meet them and know that they will do what you want them to for you!
Tip 4 – Enjoy
Enjoy this time, planning your wedding is an exciting time! Have fun! Don’t stress! (If you do, call me! I’ll calm you down..) Even when you put the table plan together, seat people where you want them to be, not where you think Aunty Shirley wants to sit.
Go to Wedding Fayres, gather as much info as you can and keep a portfolio of details. Theres no such thing as too much info!
Tip 5 – Take a Breather
Stop and breathe, theres a lot of planning , but once you’ve booked your church, venue, photographer (I can’t stress how quickly these get booked up) take a step back & say – ok lets take a day off and spend it together.
