Shrigley Hall Wedding

Shrigley Hall was the third venue that we visited and we immediately knew that it was the one for us. It had such character both inside and outside with amazing charm and stunning grounds.

My wedding dress was something I was so worried about shopping for. However, it is true what they say when you know it’s the right one. I felt every bit a princess and it was perfect for me.

We had decided on a pastel colour scheme for the wedding. I wanted all my bridesmaids to be in the same dress but different pastel colours, with the groomsmen’s’ cravats to match.

We got the bridesmaid dresses from Alison Burgess Couture. They were so helpful and had exactly what I was looking for. We also got our little girl’s flower girl dress from here and she just looked adorable on the day. The night before Chris left me a hamper filled with everything personal to us. He had also got me a diary of our journey so far which he had filled in; it brought a tear to my eye as it was so thoughtful and personal. Also lots of chocolate and perfume, which always goes down well. I bought Chris a pocket watch, as it had been something he had always wanted, engraved on the back ‘I love every second with you’ with the date of the wedding. He absolutely loved it and he wore it on the day.

We got married at St Gregory’s Church in Bollington where my Dad proudly walked me up the aisle. I was so nervous but just seeing all of our close family, friends and Chris waiting for me at the top of the aisle made me smile and just be excited. The service was beautiful.

Our wedding photographer was Mike Allen. He was highly recommended by Shrigley Hall and he did not disappoint. He was a total professional and the photographs are exactly what we wanted. He knew all of the best places for photographs. We also had a videographer, Jack Carter. It was something Chris and I hadn’t really considered however my mum convinced us it would be amazing for us to have as a memory in years to come and she was totally right, it is incredible. Jack captured every detail of the day and stayed late at night to capture all of the fun, laughter and dancing. We had such a laugh watching it all back and reliving the day. It is amazing how much of the day you actually miss as you are caught up in the bubble of the day, so to have it all there to watch back is great.

Precious Things did our room dressing. Jackylin and her team are amazing; nothing was too much trouble and all she was interested in is that the room was exactly how we had pictured it. The room on the day literally wowed us, every vision was brought to life. We had martini style glass centrepieces with impressive pastel flower arrangements with lights in the vases and they looked stunning. For the table names we went with romantic movies with a love quote from each per table. The wedding breakfast we had at Shrigley Hall was gorgeous and we had a harpist Rachael who played through the drinks reception and the meal it was such a lovely ambiance. Our Master of Ceremonies Eamon was absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made sure all guests were catered for to the highest standard and ensured the day went smoothly and to time.

For our first dance we had Ed Sheeran – Perfect. We found it so difficult to agree on a song but this we felt was literally perfect for us. We had the band Rock Revolution for our evening entertainment. Mark and Dom are great guys and this band made our evening reception the fantastic night it was. They did a brilliant live set with a mix of songs through the ages that catered for the varied age group. I don’t think that the dance floor was empty all night – they were absolutely faultless. We also had a chocolate fountain which was lovely. The fountain was full of lilac LED lights and stood out so well during the evening reception, it was full of lots of yummy treats to cover in chocolate, which went down well with the guests.

A wedding is something as a little girl I had dreamed about and for me it was the perfect day, surrounded by all of our amazing family and friends. Being lucky enough to marry the love of my life and having our little girl with us to share our day was everything I had hoped for and more.

It is by far the most stressful thing I have ever had to organise and I am really proud of how everything turned out. I could not have done it without my mum by my side helping me every step of the way with organising, attending appointments and giving me general advice and support. So many amazing memories we have to look back on and we can’t wait now for married life.
