You may think a professional wedding videographer is outside your budget, but with lots of different ways to film and packages available it might be much more affordable than you think. Here’s 15 questions brides and grooms ask me about filming weddings…

We have a photographer, why pay more for a video.?

The amount of times I have heard this.  And also heard, the one regret that I have from our wedding day was NOT having it filmed.  A film/video can create so much more than a still photograph.  You have action, movement, sound, laughter, emotion, you can relive the ceremony in full, hear the speeches, watch people dancing having fun.  You certainly cannot get all of that from a still photograph. A video is simply the best way to relive your wedding day.

What will it cost ?

Cost is all relevant.  Buy cheap, you get cheap and basic.  No creativity whatsoever.  But invest into a creative, well designed film, and something really worth watching, that costs a little bit more.

How long will it take to edit ?

If I start the day after the wedding, it could take anything between 7 and 10 days.  However, if I’m playing catch up with other weddings, it will be a few weeks.

You offer two different types of wedding films, within your four packages, traditional and documentary films, what’s the difference ?

The Traditional wedding film is edited in the chronological of the day so you know what is coming next.  Preps in the morning to the dancing in the evening and that’s how it’s edited.

A documentary style film is very different.  It’s a storyline driven film.  I use dialogue from the ceremony and speeches to create a story throughout the film.  The documentary film is approx 20 minutes long and covers the whole day.  But in addition to this you get the ceremony speeches and dancing on separate menus on the dvd, or files on a USB, so you don’t miss anything.

How is the finished video presented to us ?

LF, you have two choices, a dvd presented in customised dvd case, or on a memory stick.

Do you produce a trailer or highlight video for social media?

I have made many trailers for couples.  This varies from one to two minutes in length.

Do you film the whole day?

Yes, from preps, if required, to the dancing in the evening.  However, all packages are customisable and priced accordingly.

I am getting ready at home, then going to the church, then onto the venue for the rest of the day.  Do you cover all of this?

Yes Lakeland films cover all of this.

My fiance is getting dressed at home with the groomsmen, I’m getting ready at the hotel, we want both filmed, how can you do this.

The best way to achieve this is to have a second videographer.  I can’t be in two places at once.  This does cost extra, and he/she is with us all day, but for the small amount, it’s certainly worth the extra.  We can cover so much more of your wedding day and achieve exactly what you want.

We have seen drone footage, is that included in our package ?

Yes drone footage is included in all packages.  However, this is weather dependent.

How much do you require as a deposit, and when is the balance required?

I ask for a £50 deposit along with the booking form.  The balance is due two weeks before the wedding date.

Do you film Indian weddings?

Yes I have filmed Indian and Pakistani weddings.  I have also filmed many nationalities.  15 in total.

We are getting married abroad, we really like your style, have you ever filmed weddings aboard?

Yes, I have filmed weddings in France, Mallorca, Italy and two weddings in the Philippines.

Do you film same sex weddings?

Yes, I have had the privilege of filming same sex marriages, both male and female.  I thoroughly enjoy filming LGBT weddings.

Can we have our own music on our wedding video ?

Yes.  I ask all couples to supply music for their film.  I give them a few ideas as to what works best and how I fit this into the final film.
